Creating a Project

Create a construction project in four steps so every inspection you order has the right lender, parties, address, and budget.

Quick Reference

Click + Add Project.

Step 1: choose the Institution, Project Type, Borrower, and Contractor.

Step 2: enter the property address and details.

Step 3: add budget lines that total exactly 100%.

Step 4: review everything, then confirm.

Before You Start

The borrower and contractor already exist in People.

You have the construction budget, ideally in a spreadsheet.

Step 1 — Fill In Basic Info

Choose the Institution

The Institution sets the templates, the workflow, and how inspectors are matched to the project.

Step 1: Institution, Project Type, Borrower, and Contractor.

Get the Institution right the first time. It is hard to change once inspections exist.

Choose the Project Type

The Project Type controls how inspections are routed.

Select the Borrower and Contractor

Pick both from People. They are notified automatically as the project moves forward. Then click Next.

Step 2 — Add the Property Details

Enter the address

Step 2 asks for the property address and residential details. Click Next when they are complete.

Step 3 — Set the Budget

Name the budget

Enter the Budget Name, Budget Type, and Limit, for example Construction Base, Internal, $1,000,000.

Step 3: budget name, type, and limit, the template buttons, and Next Step.

Add the line items

Click Download Template, fill it in, and click Load Budget to import every line at once. Or click Add an Item for each line: name, percent of the total, and an optional amount.

The lines must total exactly 100%. Saving is blocked until they do.

Click Next Step

Review & Confirm shows the full summary.

Step 4 — Review and Confirm

Check the summary

Review & Confirm shows everything before the project is created. Go back to any step to fix it, then confirm.

Tips

DO

  • •Add the borrower and contractor in People before you start.
  • •Import the budget from the template instead of typing each line.
  • •Plan the budget categories before the first inspection.

WATCH FOR

  • •The Institution and budget are hard to change once inspections exist.
  • •Budget lines must total exactly 100%.

Troubleshooting

Borrowers and contractors come from People. Add them there, then return to the wizard.

The line percentages must total exactly 100%. Adjust the lines until they do.

Click Previous to go back. Nothing is created until you confirm on Review & Confirm.
