Using Talk-to-Text for Draw Sheet Notes
Dictate line-item notes on the Draw Sheet instead of typing them, then review and send, and they save to the inspection automatically.
Quick Reference
Open the inspection's Draw Sheet and find the line item.
Tap the comment under the line item to open the note field.
Tap the microphone on your keyboard and speak your note.
Review the text, then tap the green send arrow to save.
Before You Start
The RAZE mobile app is installed and you are signed in to an assigned inspection.
Keyboard dictation is turned on for your phone. On iPhone, go to Settings > General > Keyboard > Enable Dictation.
The app has microphone access if your phone asks for it the first time you dictate.
Step 1 — Open the Note on a Line Item
Find the line item on the Draw Sheet
Each line item on the Draw Sheet shows Budgeted, Previous, and Available percentages next to Your Recommendation. The comment for that line item sits directly below those numbers. Tap the comment (or "Add comments" if the line item has no note yet) to edit it.

The note field opens above the keyboard
The note opens in an editable field with your keyboard below it. Any text already in the note stays, and new text is added at the cursor.

Step 2 — Tap the Microphone and Speak
Start dictation from the keyboard
Tap the microphone in the bottom-right corner of the keyboard. The microphone turns white and a language indicator such as "English (US)" appears above the field. Speak your note at a normal pace, and your words appear in the field as you talk.

Talk-to-text uses your phone's built-in keyboard dictation, so it works in any text field in the RAZE app. On Android, use the microphone on your keyboard (for example, Gboard voice typing).
Step 3 — Review and Send
Check the text before you send
When you finish speaking, tap the microphone again (or just stop talking) to end dictation. Read the note through and fix any misheard words with the keyboard. Then tap the green send arrow to the right of the field.

The note saves to the line item
The keyboard closes and the full note appears under the line item. The status under the property header shows "Saving..." and then "Saved," so you don't need a separate save step.

Tips
DO
- •Review every dictated note before you tap send.
- •Say punctuation out loud ("comma," "period") when you need it. Dictation adds what it hears.
- •Dictate when you're away from loud equipment or heavy wind.
- •Keep each note to the line item it describes, and add a separate note on each line item that needs one.
WATCH FOR
- •Misheard names, numbers, and trade terms. Correct them by hand before sending.
- •Capitalization after existing text. Dictation may continue in lowercase after an existing note.
- •Accidental dictation. If the microphone is still highlighted, it is still listening.
