Loudon is the seat of Loudon County, on the Tennessee River southwest of Knoxville. The county is home to Tellico Dam, completed in 1979 as the last dam the Tennessee Valley Authority built, and to Tellico Village, a planned retirement community on the western shore of Tellico Lake. Census estimates put the county's growth at about 4% from 2022 to 2023, with Tellico Village growing faster still and residents over 60 growing faster than any other age group.
