# Approving or Rejecting the Inspection

> Record your decision on a submitted inspection from your own system, with the name of the person who made it.

## Quick Reference

- Wait until the inspection is Submitted and you've reviewed the report.
- Send the approve or reject call under Approve / Reject with the inspection ID.
- Include the username of the person in your system who decided.
- Give a reason when you reject: the inspector sees it.

## Before You Start

- The inspection's status is Submitted.
- You've reviewed the report (see Checking Status and Downloading the Report).

## Step 1: Send the Decision

**Open Approve / Reject.** In Documentation, open Approve / Reject. There's one call to approve and one to reject.

**Send the inspection ID and who decided.** Send the inspection ID. Also send the username, from your system, of the person who made the decision: the portal recommends it.

## Step 2: Know What Happens Next

**Approved.** The status becomes Lender Approved.

**Rejected.** The status becomes Lender Rejected, and the inspection returns to In Progress with your reason, which the inspector sees.

## Tips

**DO**
- Decide from the system where your team reviews draws.
- Send the deciding user's username with every decision.
- Write rejection reasons the inspector can act on.

**WATCH FOR**
- Decide only on Submitted inspections.
- Lender Approved isn't draw funding.
- Test decisions in Stage before you go live.

## Troubleshooting

**Q: Does approving fund the draw?**
A: No. Lender Approved records your decision on the inspection. Funding stays in your own loan system.

**Q: What does the inspector see after a rejection?**
A: The inspection returns to In Progress with your reason.

**Q: Why send the username?**
A: It ties each decision to the person in your system who made it.
